Ok, I'm going to go there. I've always been very anti-CGI. that video is proof that even a fanboy can make a puppet that gives genuine conviction of realism and freakiness. Imagine what the team could have done if they got off their arses and didn't film in front of a blue or green screen.
Which is better, Jabbas palace or Naboo? Cantina bar or cloning factory? Death star or gungan underwater world? It's a total no-brainer.

Totally agree. With CG it just feels fake, especially if you overdo it. You have Jurassic Park to blame for George Lucas getting a massive hard on for CG even though that film used physical props for the Dinos sometimes. I think Lord of the Rings had the right mix of CG and models to convey a sense of realism for Middle Earth.
