Here are some of my holiday pics from Rome. It was ace. Knackering but ace. Pretty much everywhere you go there is somthing interesting to see. We saw the Pope, wandered round Vatican city, watched the Republic day parade, went to loads of Angels and Demons related places and the ancient Rome section is simply awsome. I also ate some rather nice food but I'll be putting the food related pics in the food section later on. For now, this is me in Rome.
Saint Peter's Basilica. Like most things in Rome, its quite an impressive sight. I went up to the top of it too, the view was fantastic.
This is Saint Peter's Square from the top of the Basilica.
Inside Saint Peter's Basilica. According to the sign, you are not allowed in in you are missing a leg, have a black face, spunk stains on your shorts or if your shoulder has fallen off. No idea why this is, must be a catholic thing.
Its the Pope, a bit of of focus as the camera was on mega zoom mode. You can get free tickets to see him speak. Well worth doing as it was most amusing. Basically, he reads a story out in a load of different languages. The amusing part is that when it comes to a language change one of his side kicks reads out a loads of names of church groups that are there that day, they all scream like they are girls at a take that gig and the Pope points at them, waves and grins like a loon. Its just a massive shout out session.
Here is me, nicking the Pope's water. One of the good things about Rome is that there are loads of drinking fountains around the place so you can cool off and re-fill your water bottle for free.
Its the wind picture from Angels and Demons.
A couple of pics from Vatican City, its a very strange place. Good though.
Castel Sant Angelo, the lair of the Illuminati.
I took some pics of the Republic Day parade but they were not very good, too many heads in the way. However, they did do a couple of fly bys, which was nice.
This is the Ghostbusters pizzaria. I have no idea why they chose that theme but it was on the list of top 10 pizza places in Rome. They had a Ghostbusters poster and a few craptacular ghosts hung about the place. I tried the 8th best pizza in the world (1998). It was nice.
Ancient Rome now. The Colosseum. There seems to be several ways to spell it so I just took the one from Wikipedia. You can't really get a good photo of it as you just can't capture the awsomness of it. awsome gets banded about quite a bit these days but to see the definition of the word, you have to go to this place. Amazing.
Let him live!
Finish him!
I'm a gladiator me.
Here it is with a massive flag on the side of it, on Republic Day.
This is the view of the ancient site, from the top of the palentine hill.
And to finish, me being daft with a basilica crown and collum and second head.
Nice pics Goern, nice to see some of the Angels and Demons story objects in photo. Loved the Ghostbusters pizza place, craptacular and cheap. Meh as long as the food was good.
