I mean maybe with sweet cereals it might not fare so well but hot shredded wheat with tiny bacon pieces and warm milk could be a winner... just putting it out there...
I have had to deal the start of this due to funds. Yeh Mike, Leigh suggested that one. But I couldn't have bacon and milk together. I don't feel THAT ambitious just yet haha!
Cookie Crisp seems like it will be a winner with many things.

Sweet and meat does work. Turkey and cranberry, pork and apple sauce, honey roast ham. I think honey nut cornflakes could be used in some way. Maybe crushed into crubs then used to coat the meat.

I planted the seed and look what's happened - genius. Honey nut meat! Imagine Honey nut fried chicken?!?!? Oh my....
This may come as a shock to some but I don't actually own a deep fat fryer. However, I think I'll give the above a go in the oven. Probably next week when I'm on earlies.

Let me know, I'll nip over with some choice ingredients if that's OK?
Mike came round tonight and the cereal cooking experiment has been done. Some good things were created as well as an absolute abomination. Fun was had and lots was eaten. Pics will be uploaded tomorrow evening.
Here are the pics. The pics are in order of dish, the preparation and eating was an ongoing and mixed up event due to cooking time. Just makes more sense this way.
First off, as a sort ofstarter while we decided what to do, is a chicken and smoked bacon pate, on Jacobs crackers, with cornflakes. The verdict - The cornflakes add a nice extra crunch but don't really have any effect on the taste. After all, cornflakes are pretty bland.
Next are chicken nuggets made with chunks of chicken breast that had been covered in Nando's extra hot sauce and coated in honey flavour Shreddies. The verdict - win. Very tasty, crunchy and visually pleasing. The sweetness of the honey went well with the spicy sauce. The chicken cooked nicely without the coating burning, which was a concern at first as the cereals are already cooked. This was defo the winner of the day and is likely to be made again.
Next up is a chicken breast with cheese, mazano chillies, bran flakes and wrapped in bacon. The verdict - very good. The bran flakes turned to much, however, this didn't detract from the taste. The sort of made a brany paste layer that worked well with the chicken and tempered the fire of the chillies. This was made with a lactose free cheese but forthose that can enjoy proper cheese I would recommend using a good strong extra mature chedder for a taste boost. Also, more bacon could have been used as, in this case, a gap opened up which let out some of the cheesy bran goodness.
Next is porridge and bacon parcels. The porridge was made with water rather than milk. It was also made a lot thicker than it would be fo eating alone. It was similar to the consistancy of stuffing. It was then rolled into balls and wrapped in bacon. The verdict - surprisingly nice. The oaty porridge worked really well with the salty bacon. One tip for next time would be to use slightly smaller balls and use more toothpicks to hold the bacon in place. As it cooked, it expanded slighly which resulted in the parcels opening up. I think in my haste to try these, I have forgotten to get a good pic of them on their own. Bugger. Anyway, here they are with another of the experiments, which I'll do next.
As seen above, next is a chilli burger coated in honey nut cornflakes and served on a toasted tea cake. The verdict - I wasn't so keen on the actual dish but it has potential. Asda chilli burgers were used but I think if a better quality of burger was used the resulting taste would have been a lot better.
The next thing didn't work so well. Actually, we did this one last but I don't want to end the pics on a low so here is the abomination. Sausage meat, infused with cheese, cornflakes, cheerios, sunny bisk and coated in a crumb of all the above cereal, sage, rosemarry and something else that I can't remember. It was pretty much a chuck everything that is left over in dish. The verdict - fail. We did each eat a piece of it but it wasn't good. I just didn't work. Nothing really lost though, the sausage meat was only 23p. The up side though, Max the cat loved it.
Finally we have a stir fry with chicken, mixed peppers, chilli powder, paprika, cheerios and limited edition banana flavour sugar puffs. The verdict - good. To be honest, the cheerio addition didn't really made any difference. They didn't have a distinctive taste of texture. The banana puffs though were really nice. The banana went well with the chicken and chilli. Once slight downside was that the chicken itself didn't take on the banana flavour. They were nice together but to eat a piece of chicken on its own didn't result in banana goodness. Possibly some marinading of the chicken would be required. Maybe in a banana custard.
There you have it, cooking with cereal. Fun times and full bellies had by all.
