Watched it last night.  Not a great fan of Early 80's Metal music bar a few bands, but i think this is compelling viewing from start to finish.  It is a rollercoaster of emotions, following a bone headed canadian metal band round europe and ultimately trying to get a record deal but having to face the fact that no one gives a shit about them.

They released 3 albums which are regarded to be a good standard, but then released 9 more and sank into obscurity.  Terrible managers/ promoters, some incredible bad luck and bad judgement, lack of funds, being stuck in dead end jobs, band members trying break other band members/promoters faces....its all there!

This DVD shows the real struggles of what being in a metal band is all about, not the pampered cry baby living that Lamb of God DVDs show you when they whinge like little bitches because "the burgers taste a bit funny in europe" or "there is no taco bell in this country" (great band, fucking whinging dickheads as people). Its sometimes funny, sometimes you are cringing like you have never cringed before, sometimes you feel sorry for the poor deluded numbskulls founder members (and their families) as they struggle to acheive some kind of rehashed fame and glory from bygone years.

Honestly, i think anyone in a metal band should be made to watch this.

I will have a viewing at my place this week if anyone has a bit of time, honestly, you will really enjoy it.

Oooh....


The Anvil movie is great. Im happy that they're doing a lot of nice things now and playing bigger gigs, even if it is just off the back of a movie. They'll slip to be nobody again soon enough unfortunatly.

Just watched it, really glad they got a 2nd shot.

They really were a bit ahead of their time in a pre-thrash stylee with "Metal on Metal"

Read an interview where they said that their management were pushing them to go in a more commercial direction (sounds like they didn't appreciate what the band were good at, and it's a shame cos given that thrash was just around the corner they could have done a lot better), and they also had label hassles.
