Dead Rising is the best zombie game ever (providing you can look past the wasp thing). Its the reason I still have my 360 set up and not boxed away in the place consoles go when you get a better one. I can't wait for Dead Rising 2. I'm hoping for some interesting multiplayer options. If MAG can have 256 players in the same battle, imagine what it could be like with zombies.
Dead Rising on paper was bloody brilliant, but it was one of the fiddliest, poorly designed pieces of shit I've ever played! I didn't know what was going on, there was about a billion strange controls and it was just too difficult to do anything. I traded it, I hope Capcom pull their finger out and make a non-confuddled mess for the next game...
As you sure you were playing Dead Rising? Admittedly, playing through the story mode is excessively hard but thats due to the time restrictions not the control system. I have a mate who is a total spaz when it comes to games, he doesn't even know how to hold the pad properly, but even he can work the Dead Rising system and have some zombie chopping fun.
I liked the save system. It made it far more of a challenge. Games these days make it too easy. If you die, you only go back about 2 minutes and can try again. Thats arse. If you die, do the lot again. It'll teach you not to be so crap and to take more care. Most modern games are too soft when it comes to dying, as a rule, you get infinate lives and continues. Where is the challenge? Where is the elation at the completion of a game? After completing Resistance 2 I just though, what should I play next? On completing Dustin (on the spectrum) I went running around to tell people. Also, where is the punishment for failure, in modern games? This is why kids are a bunch of mard arses these days. Even the gaming world has gone soft on them.
Haha, well you may have a point there, but if the game is so relentlessly hard that it stops you playing and enjoying it, it's a bad thing.
And yeah, when you were smacking zombies round with stuff, that was fun, but when you couldn't make any progress because of ridiculous limits and piece of shit AI, fuck it all... as an example, that car full of inmates, too hard... shooting that Spanish guy who ran on top of the shops... ridiculous... rubbish.

The car full of inmates is a piece of piss. Just get the katana and wait behind a tree, when the car passes just jump out and batter the bloke on the gun. Once the gunner is dead the other two will get out of the car, easy pickings. As for the bloke running along the roof of the shops. Just wait until he stops moving then shoot him. I wouldn't describe that as being too hard. There are some hard bits in the game but these two are not even close to the standard of difficulty that is faced later in the game. That being said, there are ways to make it easier. You just have to be organised and stock up on the right gear for the missions. Basically, the mini chainsaws for the bosses and a shit load of katanas for the zombies. The game is hard but its not unbeatable. You should give it another chance.
Yeah it wasn't the game play that was the issue for me it was just the clumsy save system, yeah yeah i know all about the hardness of old games as i've been playing since i was 6 (C64 ftw). It just happened too many times that i got so far, forgot to save it properly and was forced to start from the beginning.
Indeed. Its ace. It had me chuckling like a fool several times. Esspecially the "that'll do pig" line. I'm still laughing at that now. Also, "fuck that clown". Most amusing.
